Wiper Deputy Party leader Farah Maalim has taken a surprising stand on the planned swearing in of National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga as president.
Speaking on NTV’s Am Live show on Monday morning, the former National Assembly deputy Speaker said he disapproves of the installation of Odinga as president, noting that the plan could plunge the country into chaos.
“I would like to uphold the law. I have not been part of any process that is arranging for the swearing in of Raila Odinga. I will hesitate to endorse any swearing in because that is a recipe for chaos,” Maalim said.
Maalim further noted that Odinga should instead push for electoral reforms as had been the plan earlier.
”We need to sit back and come up with other methods to force our reform agenda. Swearing in of another President is not the solution,” he said, adding that sometimes the law is unfair but ‘the law is the law.’
He added: “I have a strong commitment that changes should be made but in the right way to bring to an end electoral impunity in Kenya.”
Last week, Raila announced that he will take Oath of Office on December 12th after an endorsement from the coalition’s people’s assembly.
“I will be sworn in as President of Kenya on Jamhuri Day (December 12) through the people’s assembly, and go to State House. We will meet to discuss the matter and direct on the way forward,” Raila said hours after President Uhuru Kenyatta’s inauguration for a second term last Tuesday.
Maalim has seen the light…
Maalim has seen the light.Good for you.We already have a president of Kenya. Raila could make himself president of his village.
Anyway, about the law being unfair, which law is that you are referring to? Bad laws can be changed,or removed, just as bad people can be put in jail,or punished. We the people have the power.
When you lose an election,…
When you lose an election, you cannot blame the law that says you need majority votes to win. You try to convince the majority to vote for you next time.
Is Kalonzo coming home,…

What is to stop a losing MCA…
What is to stop a losing MCA candidate, Governor, MP, Senator or even NASA chair etc from swearing themselves in since Raila has set the precedence? Heck, at this rate, I might swear myself in as Edith Kimani’s husband – god she’s hot!
You were not invited thus…
You were not invited thus whether you come or not does not make any difference. Why all this concern .Kwani Baba has said he wants to be your president. Si mlichagua wenu ?
If things go like this, it…
If things go like this, it is possible to have 365 presidents in a year in Kenya. Each day a newly self- sworn president. It would be a great move where presidency can be such a cheap office to occupy.
I’d be grand to swear myself into presidency on my birthday.
