Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko has ordered for the immediate release of National Super Alliance (NASA) economic strategist David Ndii.
In a statement, the DPP directed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to free Ndii pending completion of investigations. He further directed that once investigations conclude, the file be forwarded to his office for further directions.
“DPP Keriako Tobiko has directed @DCI_Kenya that David Ndii be released on police bond. Further, DPP has directed that once investigations are completed, the resultant inquiry file be forwarded to @ODPP_KE for appropriate directions,” the DPP office tweeted.
Ndii was apprehended in Kwale on Sunday evening and transferred overnight to the CID headquarters in Nairobi for interrogation over alleged incitement.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Opposition leader Raila Odinga said Ndii’s arrest was an attempt by Jubilee administration to silence the opposition.
“These are basically designs to try and intimidate and blackmail the people of Kenya. Mr. David Ndii has committed no crime. People of Kenya will not be intimidated into submission,” said Odinga.
