President Uhuru Becomes a Grandfather

This will probably be one of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s happiest weeks after graduating to a grandfather, only a day before his swearing in ceremony for his second term in office.

President Uhuru’s first son, Jomo Kenyatta and his wife Fiona Achola welcomed a baby girl on Sunday. Achola, who tied the knot to the younger Kenyatta last year, delivered “Baby Wanjiru”, the couple’s first born child and President Kenyatta’s first grandchild at the Aga Khan hospital in Nairobi.

This comes only a day before the President is installed for his second term at a ceremony to be held at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani on Tuesday. President Uhuru arrived at the hospital moments after the baby was born at the the VIP wing.

The two got married in a traditional wedding ceremony held at Uhuru’s rural home in Ichaweri, Gatundu in 2016.

  1. Bravo Jomo and Acholla. This…
Bravo Jomo and Acholla. This should put to rest all the ethnic hatred, tunatharauliwa, 40 against 7, people’s republic vs animals’ republic and such nonesense

Baby wanjiru is 2 days old but can employ all of us and pay us double what we currently make … mutinde haha mugithuria ta ciana cia rukenge.

  3. And they didn’t go all out…
And they didn’t go all out with ravish show off wedding which seems to be a “thing” in Kenya and I’m sure they do have the money for it unlike the fundraisers aka pre-wedding nonsense.

    • Tell me about it! Someone I…
Tell me about it! Someone I know in Kenya is fundraising not only for the wedding but also for the honeymoon on a Mauritius location they have picked out. Stateside, I recall a fundraising for a wedding over 15 years ago where they were proposing a $40,000 wedding in Kenya. The couple could only raise $5,000…and yes, the wedding did happen in Kenya but the couple is no longer together. Additionally, I lost a childhood friend because his then fiance and now wife didn’t take it too kindly when I called them on setting fundraising targets for the those on the wedding party in addition to travel and tuxedo expenses for the wedding in Kenya – I was the best man. After the wedding, the friendship was never the same and they barely keep in touch. I paid less than $50 for mine at the county recorders office in my state 12 years ago!

      • It’s simple, if you can’t…
It’s simple, if you can’t afford it then don’t do it . You can also go to a Judge then have a special party thereafter for family and friends . Actually as far as I’m concerned the honeymoon destination is the best part , so save for that, see a different country /location etc , hao wananchi wengine wanataka kura keki shauri yao. The agony people go through planning for these weddings is not worth it plus half of the folks in the wedding only come to scrutinize it, hate on you etc ha haha. Heh I have been to a wedding and the table mates were busy trashing the couple and giving insider story on how the groom was cheating on her etc… .

        • Kumbe my anti-pre-wedding…
Kumbe my anti-pre-wedding fundraisers movement is expanding…….For a long time, I have resisted this weird practice of fundraising for weddings and dowry payment and mdogo mdogo I have been witnessing folks get converted to the truth – it doesn’t make sense in this day & age. There are more deserving causes to fundraise for but a couple desiring to wed should foot own bill wengine tuwaletee magifts, au sio?

          • Na hizo ma gifts nisiambiwe…
Na hizo ma gifts nisiambiwe which one to get sijui at Macy’s or Saks Fifth Avenue. I leta what I deem fit – we add that to the clause ama?

          • The most hilarious diaspora…
The most hilarious diaspora wedding shenanigan was a few years ago when I saw a flossing newly wedded couple riding up Kiambu road in a horse drawn carriage. Matatus were honking at them to get out of the way, bicycles, human traffic, boda bodas and dust all made this look like a really bad idea. The bride was quite determined to have her moment but the guy was hoping the ground would open and swallow him whole. He was embarrassed.

Congratulations are in order! So congrats to the couple and the Uhurus. I would like to be a fly on their wall when these guys get together. Jomo & Achola, Uhuru & Odinga! C’mon people, there is a lesson hidden somewhere there in this union that all of us need to learn from. Take note Guest1 et al!

  6. @Sukari. Right on…
@Sukari. Right on,Congratulations are in order.I personally think that the overwhelming drive in our politics need to continue to be this never ending pursuit of more Peace, More civility and More compassion among the tribes.I think that as a country we are engaged in this never ending Peace Project. From this Peace Project we will continue to reap the fruits of Prosperity and Progress in the country for all Kenyans, regardless of the tribe that we come from.Yes i know, that the day to day politics are complicated and the solutions to those problems are often complicated. But we should never depart from the path of this never ending pursuit of Peace in the country. The Good Book definately instructs us to do as much.

With all the money they could not even do a proper wedding ati ceremonial .Just kids still depending on their parents for money. Ati aga khan Kwani Nairobi hospital was full?

    • @Anonymous, these two kids…
@Anonymous, these two kids have done nothing wrong to deserve your selfish, mean, and uncalled for comment. The young man only happens to be the president’s son who married a beautiful Luo lady without attracting everybody’s attention, and now they both are celebrating their first born baby girl. What is their crime? They did not ask to be born in wealthy families, and whatever you call them will not change their socioeconomic status. In the contrary, it will put guilt in you unless you repent. Leave the young couple alone and pick your political battle with their father Uhuru if you must.

    • Hata nyumbani is good enough…
Hata nyumbani is good enough if it is done properly. As long as mother & the baby are safe & well that is all it matters. Do you know Prince William was the first royal baby to be born in a hospital and that was in 1982.

      • Actually kuzaa kwa nyumba is…
Actually kuzaa kwa nyumba is most ideal , familiar territory , comfort etc. Midwifery at home craft should make a come back.Speaking of which, “The Midwife” on public television portrays that yesteryears when giving birth at home was the norm even with less technology that we have today.
