NASA Products Boycott Call Has Flopped, Lobby Group Says

A lobby group affiliated to the Jubilee Party claims that opposition National Super Alliance’s products boycott call announced last week has flopped.

Speaking to the press in Nairobi on Friday evening, Council of Professionals of Kenya (CPK) said that the call by NASA has failed to deliver the results expected by its leaders.

CPK chairman Ababu Namwamba rubbished reports in the media that Safaricom has lost Sh20 billion in market valuation in a week of Nasa boycott call.

The former Budalangi MP further said the boycott may do more harm than good to those it’s intended to help. “It is outrageous that a leading telecommunication company can be said to have lost Sh20 billion in a week, money which it does not make in a week. It is a report that has been instigated by Nasa spin doctors to deceive the world that the country was actually in an economic crisis,” he said.

He added: “It never happens in a progressive country at all to tell somebody, ‘don’t buy this or that,’. It is completely ridiculous and I believe it will not go far.”

Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich also assured Kenyans that the boycott call by the opposition will have no impact on the economy.

  1. I can see boycott working in…
I can see boycott working in a monopolistic economic where by the producer holds the consumer hostage because there is not alternative to their product.Besides that, someone may like the product that is being boycotted, and thus separate politics and continue to use the product. And I think that’s what will happen in Kenya.
Ballot is the democratic surest way the whom they want.I guess I should ads, when fair elections are conducted.

Maxiley. Airtel is Better than Safaricom; and Kenyans now know itafter “Kufunguliwa Kutoka MINYORORO” ya Safaricom. Na Bado Yanabadilika. Amen!!!

This is another test for the Kenyan or international media that decides to give figures or news about Kenya to the world. When someone says Safaricom has lost 20 Million in a week, don’t just document their word as if it is the gospel truth. Ask where they got those figures. Did the get the figures from s company employee, from a company report, from research or did you as media verify what they stated with the company. Fact checking should be done with Jubilee’s, Nasa and any other person should be held accountable for their utterings that is intended to be consumed by the public. Let responsible journalism in Kenya become part and parcel of our maturing democracy

  3. As lobby group, lobby and…
As lobby group, lobby and give us the numbers and data to work with; otherwise it will be like the 20 billion sycophancy. To make sense of the impact frame it in direct loss in revenue to the targeted company, loss to the agents, loss to the consumers, loss to the boycotting zones and collateral loss.

“…The former Budalangi MP further said the boycott may do more harm than good to those it’s intended to help….” SO TRUE!

I said it before, I say it again:
DENY people access to INFORMATION, FINANCIAL FREEDOM and SELF DETERMINATION (the process by which a person controls their own life) you have them by the collar…THEY ARE ENSLAVED FOREVER… cult-style.

  5. How the heck do u tell…
How the heck do u tell poverty stricken jaruos living in slums to boycott the only cheap products they can afford ?? Economic boycotts can work when you are dealing with educated patriots .. not illeterate tribal bigots who shit in paperbags then throw the paperbag on top of their own leaking roof.
