Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu alias “Babayao” has graduated with Masters degree in Business Administration from Kenya Methodist University (KEMU).
The newly elected governor was among 2,800 graduands awarded with various degrees at KEMU’s 17th graduation ceremony held at Main Campus in Meru on Saturday.
Early this year, the former Kabete Member of Parliament the won a case in which former Governor William Kabogo alleged that he possessed a fake degree certificate from Punjab University in India.
Kabogo sought to have the court to declare Waititu unfit to contest for any public office on grounds of presenting a forged degree certificate.
Waititu graduated alongside Meru County Assembly speaker Joseph Kaberia, former Buuri MP Kinoti Gatobu and Kenya National Union of Teachers chairman Mudzo Nzili.
Speaking during the ceremony, Chief guest and Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi called on the graduands to give back to their communities.
“Graduands should also research and find cures for cancer and HIV,” he said.
“Universities should not be an ivory tower secluded from the rest of the society. They should instead solve social and economic challenges our country is facing.”
Now Waititu has graduated…
Now Waititu has graduated after a busy campaign season. Before then it was Joho, Sonko, even Charity Ngilu and Passaris graduated in the thick of the campaign season. Very very interesting and timely. These leaders are really able to multitask and don’t need to “crack” books hard like we used to. They are very very smart. At one point as Kenyans we will have to stop kidding ourselves if we want to leave the “third world country” to be first or second.
