Starehe MP Charles Njagua, well known as Jaguar has apologised for for engaging in a physical fight with his Embakasi East counterpart Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino.
The two exchanged blows and kicks in Parliament on Tuesday.
“I just wanted to tell him to respect President Uhuru Kenyatta and not to fight with him,” Jaguar said.
He regretted his actions, and confessed that they did not paint a good image to the people who elected him to represent them.
“I was not elected to fight in parliament. What happened was unfortunate and I want to apologise to my friend Babu Owino,” Jaguar said.
He,nevertheless, cautioned Babu against disrespecting the President.
“He should stop insulting the President, I have never insulted Raila Odinga,” Jaguar noted.
He blamed Babu for the whole drama, saying that he started the confrontation by physically attacking him.
“I just approached him to talk but he started shouting at me and started saying that this country does not belong to one community…and I had to act and I just pampered him a bit,” Jaguar said.
However, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, on his part said he does not regret fighting Jaguar, adding that he was defending himself from a “malicious attack” by Jaguar and Embakasi West MP.
“I cannot regret because I was defending myself. It was an act of self-defence in the face of a malicious attack. If I did not defend myself right now it would be a different story. Embakasi East residents would be missing their MP and Kenyan citizens would now be mourning,” said Ongili.
He alleged that Jaguar would have “killed” him if he opted not to defend himself, adding that he had forgiven the two as the Bible teaches.
“If I did not defend myself, I would be dead by now because the way those people came to me was so strange and weird. Seemingly, they also had a group of people they had planned earlier to come and attack me,” he said.
“I will forgive them as the Bible says and I will follow the Bible. It is my choice not to report them. As Babu Owino, I am so innocent and I will not follow the law but just forgive them,” said the former University of Nairobi student leader.
“I would like to condemn the act done by Jaguar and his colleague Benjamin Gathiru of Embakasi Central with the contempt it deserves because that is an unbecoming conduct from a Member of Parliament,” said Ongili.
The two have been summoned by Powers and Privileges Committee of Parliament and could face disciplinary action.

Take a peep into our parliament as you see many empty seats as the few present members vote for legislation that will affect the lives of the entire nation!
All the current members of the IEBC should be fired immediately. They cannot be trusted to run another election based on their handling of the previous one and the clearing criminals, murderers, drug dealers, people with foul mouths, rapists, thieves, and leaders who practice nepotism to run for an elective public office.
