President Uhuru Tells Raila to Quit Presidential Race if Not Interested with Elections

President Uhuru Kenyatta says that he is aware that National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga wants to bolt out of the repeat election with no valid reason.

Speaking in State House in Mombasa on Monday, the President also asked Raila to quit the race if not interested in the election, instead of putting the country in suspense.

“We are aware my competitor wants to bolt out of the race with no valid reason. He has had excuses that do not end and now he is secretly plotting to leave us in suspense but we want to tell him it shall not happen,”.

“We are tired of this suspense. We have already spent enough. If he is not interested let him just quit and let us to deliver our development agenda.”

Uhuru further said that he is not interested in engaging in political rhetoric with the opposition, adding that Kenyans are tired and want to move on with their normal living.

“I want to let you know that we squarely won the August election but the court decided we do it again,”.

He insisted that he trounced the Orange Party leader in the August 8th poll and exuded confidence that he will beat him once more in the fresh election.

“With due respect to my competitors. if only those ballot boxes could be re-opened for recounting of votes, it would be shocking [to find out] we won by a very big margin.”

“All we are saying is…let them face us again…we shall beat them.”

Speaking in press briefing at Okoa Kenya offices on Monday, Raila dismissed claims that he is flying out of the country as part of the plan to skip the election, but, said even if he boycotts the poll, its his democratic right.

“If I choose not to participate in a pre-rigged election that is my choice. Not even the court can compel to [do anything].”

He dismissed election losers who are ditching Nasa for Jubilee and downplayed the impact of their absence im the opposition coalition. He said that not all everyone who left Egypt reached Canaan.

“The mass defection you are currently witnessing is as a result of leadership of tribalism, corruption and other things. They are buying defectors to create an impression of mass action from NASA,” he said after his meeting with leaders from Kajiado county at Okoa Kenya’s office in Nairobi.

“We will not waste time on election losers. Those who want to go, let them go but one thing we are sure of is that change is on the way and must come.”
