Nyali MP "Moha Jicho Pevu" Explains His Presence at President Uhuru's Rally in Mombasa

Nyali Member of Parliament Mohamed Ali popularly known as “Moha Jicho Pevu” has explained why he joined President Uhuru at a campaign rally held at Kongowea market in Mombasa County on Monday.

There were reports that the newly elected MP would join Jubilee, but he has categorically explained his presence at the rally.

“Today, President Uhuru Kenyatta visited my constituency as part of the Jubilee Party’s electoral campaign program. Given the political tension in the country right now, my decision to attend his rally as MP for Nyali was a difficult one to make, but I chose to attend it, and give the office of the President its due respect,” Moha posted on his Social Media account.

He continued: “Also, young in the field of politics as I may be, I chose to respect the event and attend because I wanted to deliver a message. I chose to attend precisely because of the point we are at in this country today. Both political formations, NASA and JUBILEE have, through their actions, removed any possibility for negotiation on the best way forward for our country. We are close to the edge, and the ramping up of temperatures makes our collective descent off the cliff seem inevitable. It is not. It is not because even in our political competition, what should be at the heart of us is the welfare of our people. In 2007 I reported on these very streets of Nyali, after a political contest much like this one,”.

He said that, having covered the 2007 post-election violence as a journalist, he would never want to see a repeat of what he witnessed and that’s why he attended the rally to preach unity among Kenyans.

” I saw violence that never want to be repeated. So I welcomed the President to my constituency to remind him of that, just as I will remind the Former Prime Minister should I get the opportunity to do so. The lives of our people, indeed, the soul of this country, is of far greater importance that whatever enmity the two men, and their parties seem to have for one another. I hope that perhaps, in welcoming a man, and a party whose policies I personally disagree with, shows the public that politics is important, but that their lives are more important. As an Independent Member of Parliament, my responsibility is FIRST and FOREMOST to the people of Nyali, who elected me. The people of this constituency need jobs, better healthcare and education for their children, and a hope for the future. As I did on the campaign trail, I say that I will work with all people whose core interest is to develop Nyali, and make this constituency the envy of this county.”

Young man,mp you are onto a good start, it is that kind of mentality that gives the ordinary people hope, that yes we still have leaders who are not goons. I was viewing you in the same leagueswith one goon known as Babu and the likes of Kuria but you just reversed it and I shall from now on look at you as a leader. Disagree with opponents on policy matters but keep the respect necessary for the other human being.

He is an independent thus does not have allegiance to either Jubilee or NASA. Second he is a former journalist well written excuse but just a play of words.Actions speak louder than words what will you really do for Nyali rather than just preach peace .It is good to tell people what they want to hear sometimes but it is better to do the right thing all the time.It looks like you were campaigning for a plum job.May have to wait longer as the election on the 26th seems unlikely.

  7. @Guest1, your last comment…
@Guest1, your last comment here made me realise how naive or ignorant you are of OUR culture. And by that I mean African culture not just Kikuyu. Let me give you a mini reminder: When one comes of age, be it a woman or man, and people refer to you as “msichana or lad, kijana, etc” – it is not a compliment but an insult that you have not graduated according to your chronological age. Now, whilst the West may smile by being referred to as a lad, culture wise, it is demeaning IF you are an adult. That is how the term “kihii” was coined, although other connotations also refer to this, a lesson best highlighted by Anonymous, hence I will omit putting you through that again. So before you own to anything, be mindful of the psychological imprint you are forging on us of yourself! Just a thought.
