Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has submitted 10 nominees of his cabinet to the County Assembly for approval.
Sonko sent home all members of the executive serving his predecessor Evans Kidero’s administration.
Media Council of Kenya Chairman Charles Kerich, who has been serving as editor-in-chief at the Star Newspaper is one of the beneficiary of Sonko government and has been named as the Minister in charge of Information Communication Technology and E-Government.
Another long-time journalist Larry Wambua, who previously worked at the State broadcaster, Kenya Broadcasting Corporation will take up Devolution, Public Service, and Administration docket.
Other nominees include Veska Jepkemboi (Finance and Economic Planning), Peter Wachira (Lands, Urban Renewal and Housing), Dr Hitan Majevda (Health Services), Allan Esabwa (Commerce, Tourism and Cooperatives), Emmah Muthoni (Environment, Water, Energy and Natural Resources).
Others include Danvas Makori (Agriculture, Livestock Development, Fisheries and Forestry), Janet Ouko (Education, Youth Gender, Sports, Culture and Social Services) and Saleh Mohammed (Road, Infrastructure and Transport).
Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi has ordered the select committee of appointment to vet the 10 nominees.
