The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko has ordered the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to launch investigations on President Uhuru’s Chief Agent Davis Chirchir and six Safaricom employees.
This comes after opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) forwarded the names of the seven to the DPP and issued a 72-yours ultimatum for them to be prosecuted. The Raila led alliance had threatened to institute private prosecution if the period elapsed without action being taken.
Davis Chirchir is accused by the opposition outfit of infiltrating Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) servers and altered presidential results to the advantage of President Uhuru.
The six Safaricom employees are alleged to have connived with French Biometrics firm, OT-Morpho to bungle August 8th poll, which has since been nullified by the Supreme Court after irregularities and illegalities were found.
DPP Tobiko has given the Director of Criminal Investigations Ndegwa Muhoro a period of 21 days to submit the findings of the probe.
On the other hand, Jubilee had also demanded the DPP to prosecute Siaya Senator James Orengo and Nasa chief campaigner Musalia Mudavadi over alleged possession of information illegally extracted from the IEBC servers.
