Raila: Why I'm Not Campaigning Actively for Repeat Elections

National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga has opened up on why he is not actively campaigning for his October 26th presidential bid.

Speaking during a press briefing, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader said he has several foot soldiers on the ground drumming up support for him, adding that he does not have to personally campaign for himself.

“I have soldiers on the ground who are campaigning for me. We have a huge support base so Kenyans already know who their president will be. Forget about the self-imposed Jubilee administration,” said Raila.

The ex-Prime Minister said that what is important for him at this point is to ensure that Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is swept clean to avoid another rigging scheme like that witnessed in August 8th elections.

“It is not a must that I take the lead. We need to clean up the IEBC before we head to the repeat polls before we can think of any other thing. Our primary business is having the amends at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission before going to the polls,” added Raila.

The opposition outfit announced they will be staging nationwide anti-IEBC protests every Monday and Friday until the electoral commission gives in to their demands.

While President Uhuru and his Jubilee brigade have continued with their campaign blitz across the country, the Raila-led alliance has been mostly holding press briefings in Nairobi demanding for electoral reforms using “No reforms, no elections” slogan.

They still get paid the same whether they did a good or bad job I do not understand hii mambo ya kushikilia job because eventually they will have to leave after the élections.
