Hassan Omar Resigns From Kalonzo Musyoka's Wiper Party

Former Mombasa senator Hassan Omar has tendered his resignation from Wiper Democratic Movement-Kenya.

Omar, who has been the secretary general of the Kalonzo-led party, in a letter dated October 7th said he had relinquished from the position.

”I wish to tender my resignation as the secretary general of the party with effect from the date of this communication,” read his letter in part.

Omar has said he wants to reposition and reorganize his political life following his defeat to Hassan Joho in the race for Mombasa governor race.

”Circumstances as pertains to the steps I wish to take to seek electoral justice as indeed was your quest in the Supreme Court as NASA, the reorganization of my politics – if at all and my endeavors towards scholarship, personal development and the repositioning the discourse for social justice and accountability in Mombasa and the coast region through non state actors makes my position as secretary general untenable.”

The former Mombasa senator further said that he would not actively take part in National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga’s presidential campaigns citing personal issues that he will disclose later.

He wished Raila the best and thanked his Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka for an experience of a lifetime.

Omar contested for Mombasa Governor seat in the August 8th general election on a Wiper ticket, but lost to ODM’s Hassan Joho.
