Opposition chief Raila Odinga has threatened to boycott the repeat election ordered by the Supreme Court if Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) fails to make changes to its staff and systems.
In statement to the Media on Tuesday, Raila also expressed concerns over locking out of other presidential candidates in the repeat presidential polls, noting that the Supreme Court ordered for a fresh polls.
In a statement, Raila listed six IEBC officials that must be sent home, before the commission conducts a fresh polls.
The former Prime Minister named IEBC Chief Executive Officer Ezra Chiloba, Deputy Commission Secretary (Operations) Betty Nyabuto, ICT DirectorJames Muhati, Director Voter Registration and Elections Operations Immaculate Kassait, Director Legal and Public Affairs Praxedes Tororey and Moses Kipkogey, Manager Legal Department and Advisor to the CEO as officials who must be thrown out of the commission.
“There will be no elections on the 17th unless these our demands are met,” Odinga said.
Raila also rejected the October 17th date set by IEBC for the repeat poll, claiming that the commission did not consult him and other stakeholders. He also alleged that the date was set by President Uhuru’s Jubilee party and not IEBC.
Nasa proposed the repeat election be held either on 24th or 31st of October.
Who cares! You can boycott…
Who cares! You can boycott. The election will go on and your name will be on the ballot. You will get zero and Uhuru will get 10 million. Upuzi wacha. You know you have no votes.
An incompetent pilot crashes…
An incompetent pilot crashes the plane. Everybody dies but the pilot survives. Would you let the same pilot fly a new plane with new passengers?
Let us look into the constitution and see who can take over if the president and the vice cannot. Is it the speaker of the house?
We need time to mourn for the dead passengers and the loss of the airplane.
The current IEBC SHOULD not be allowed to fly another new plane again! We are not in a hurry. IEBC has failed the people of Kenya many times. How? First of all for clearing people with closets of of skeletons to run for public elective office, and for declaring candidates who have lost the election as winners. No more IEBC!
Priss, you think Kenya has…
Priss, you think Kenya has all the money to keep on complying with THE Gor mahia referee moving goal post when it does not suit him. Bure kabisa! He wants power by any means necessary and he cares less about anyone or anything else.Let him keep calling “press conferences” every two seconds, wakenya wanamuona and will vote accordingly. Next will he ask for UN to preside over elections … I can’t stand him …….nkt!
Poor metaphor! No plane…
Poor metaphor! No plane crashed. If you have to retake a KNEC managed exam, the retake is still mid-wifed by KNEC. RAO akae Bondo akitaka.

The results of Msando’s assassination is what we are witnessing and feeling at the moment. Martha Karua feels she was cheated and I agree with her. The people of Kirinyaga are not that stupid to elect Waiguru. Martha, go ahead and file your complaint (unfortunately) to the incompetent, inefficient, and useless IEBC members.
IEBC needs to be overhauled
IEBC needs to be overhauled
Wow, this a mess.Does RAO…
Wow, this a mess.Does RAO have 6 persons in mind to replace those he wants fired? And if he does, why should Uhuru accept them, and not have his own choice of 6 replace the fired?Should another independent party, pick up the 6?And if so why?
My opinion is that given what has happened, it would be very stupid for those 6 in question,if retained to repeat their mistakes, unless they are truly incompetent. And if that is the basis of them getting fired, well that’s good.
I highly doubt if these two opposing parties would agree on same iebc officials,or staff. They just have to put their trust in them to do an honorable job, otherwise head back to the supreme court.
peace is what Kenya needs…
peace is what Kenya needs now than ever, it’s useless attacking the presidential candidates.
fellow Kenyans let’s embrace peace and pray for the best.
GOD is watching.

god and drug addiction are the same. You refuse to face reality and go to the world of fantasy. Instead of confronting your problem, you hibernate and slip into another addiction – “prayer.”
I remember in Chile when miners were trapped and stayed underground for 69 days in 2010 they were rescued after the people above the ground looked for practical solutions. If it happened in religious Kenya, instead of the people looking for positive solutions, they would have prayed. Praying is an addiction just like smoking cigarettes and drinking beer.
