A bodyguard assigned to National Super Alliance co-principal Moses Wetang’ula, Simon Lonyai has been dismissed from National Police Service, following drama that ensued at the Supreme Court on Monday.
Constable Lonyai’s dismissal comes a day after he was involved in an altercation with his seniors at Supreme Court on Monday, where he had accompanied Wetang’ula to the ongoing presidential petition filed by Raila Odinga. The officers engaged in a confrontation with both Wetang’ula and Nasa leader Raila Odinga, who sought to have their armed bodyguards, including Lonyai, accompany them inside the contrary to the rules.
Wetang’ula’s bodyguard insisted to bring a pistol into the compound, contrary to the rules. There was a notice on the pillar at the gate is a sign reading, “No arms beyond this point.” Further, Wetang’ulas bodyguard did not also have the accreditation badge that had been issued before the start of the hearing of the case.
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was captured angrily punching his hand with his fist and yelled at the police officers. “This is a High Court, not a police station. Stop being unreasonable,” Raila busted. “I am the one who has brought the case to the court. I am the one who decides who comes with me,” Odinga added. “These are our security. He is an officer like yourself. Behave yourself,” Mr Wetang’ula said as Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga and others in the entourage complained.
“This boy is an officer like you,” said Wetang’ula.
Nyayo days are back again…
Nyayo days are back again with vengeance. This is what you get when you vote for Toroitich Arap Moi disguised as uhuruto!
This ridiculous circus…
This ridiculous circus perpetuated by the so called waheshimiwa when displayed in public domain for all and sundry to see, what to you then expect from regular mwananchi watching? Certainly not respect.
He needs to sue. These…
He needs to sue. These police officers were obviously told to give Raila a hard time and now that they could not arrest Raila they decided to clutch on the poor security chap. What has he done to them or what did they expect of him ? Uhuru why are you so desparate
No weapon in the courthouse…
No weapon in the courthouse means no weapon. But i just wonder whether the policeman had to take lawful orders from his superiors or from empty headed, useless murderers who have nothing to offer other than death and destruction of property
Kudus to the police officers…
Kudus to the police officers for carrying out the orders to the letter.
My uncle Ojinga and Wetangui should be treated just like every other Kenyan because they are not above the law and we all know they are both goons who do not add any necessary political value to our nation besides incitement and peddling lies.
This is good. Discipline…
This is good. Discipline comes first and he is supposed to maintain it at all times. I believe he was also briefed on the code of ethics in regards to his job. If for any reason he broke that, then he should be disciplined. There is armory at the Supreme Court where he could have left his weapon. He also grabbed one of his seniors by the collars. That is intolerable no matter what. Furthermore, he can face criminal charges as well.
Lonyai learned the hard way…
Lonyai learned the hard way, that, you do not substitute logic with the law.He probably thought that since he is a bodyguard, he should be armed to protect watengula at all times, and that means arming himself at all times. He also learned that a confrontation with your seniors is not a good idea. It could cost you your daily bread….This should be a lesson to would be Lonyais.Obey they laws, even if your boss tells you to break them, because you will at least have a locus stand(aleg to stand on,legally speaking) if the matter goes to court…
Perfect example and a lesson…
Perfect example and a lesson to those wishing to heed violence instigated by Odinga. When the heat is on, you are on your own!
