President Uhuru Uses Former US Secretary of State John Kerry's Video Recording to Defend His Re-Election

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s legal team on Tuesday used a video recording of former US Secretary of State John Kerry, where Kerry confessed that Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) adequately put in place systems to ensure the integrity of the 2017 General Election.

While making his submissions in the case filed by National Super Alliance leader Raila Odinga who seeks the nullification of Presudent Uhuru’s victory, lawyer Fred Ngatia representing Uhuru Kenyatta in the petition played the video of Kerry before Supreme Court judges to back his argument that Uhuru was validly elected in a free and fair elections.

Kerry, who was one of the international observers of August elections under US Jimmy Carter Centre, pointed out that all parties were given an opportunity to state whether they agreed or disagreed with the Forms 34A tally. “We observed an election process with more than 400 observers from nine different missions who all agreed that the basic process of carrying out the election was quite positive, even if there were little aberrations here and there,” Kerry said in response to a question on the validity of the elections. He further noted that the General Election was ultimately a paper ballot. “We believe that the elections commission in Kenya has put together a process that will allow each and every votes integrity to be proven and to be protected. Everyone was present when the ballots were open; they were present when they were closed,” he said.

Ngatia argued that based on the remarks by Kerry, the court should be focusing on the Forms 34A and described the discrepancies raised by Nasa as totally insignificant.

  1. Kerry is just an observer…
Kerry is just an observer let the evidence speak for itself name dropping will NOT win you the case

    • No wonder you are anonymous…
No wonder you are anonymous.Yes Kerry was an observer, that was his purpose for being there.I hope that you are not belittling his duties as an observer. He was not the only one there.NASA had its representatives there.
Raila contends that the IEBC’s computers where hacked, and formulas injected in to alter results in favor of Uhuru.Let RAO bring evidence supporting this allegation.I would hope that if proven wrong, he should pay all court fees involved in the case.

Kerry is way above jizee of kenya political and proffessional class.
You will nrver see Kerry spitting kitendawili and wanting to slap whoever disagress with him like the jizee going to bondo….

  2. I was an election observer…
I was an election observer myself having travelled to Kenya for that purpose. I can unequivocally say that Kenya’s 2017 general election was the most democratic and fairest election the continent of Africa has ever held. In fact, there are other so many reasons to add into what John Kerry said and I am sure lawyers for IEBC will argue it in court. The petition in Court would have been filed anyway even if it was Pope Francis supervising it and Raila Omolo Odinga was not the declayed winner.

Yani one old man who do not have anything to show having done for Kenyans can go to court just to waste time since knows no evidence was available…..
Observers are serious professionals as some were candidates in their nations….thus knows what elections is about…

  7. I am not supporting any side…
I am not supporting any side. Let the truth come out and whoever won becomes the president. Now, I disagree with those that observed , not that they are wrong but to assume all was well because nobody was beaten or killed. With computers, there is something called “Gabbage in , gabbage out”. the fact that everything was calm in voting does not mean a program cannot be twicked to give you certain results. If Raila can prove that algorithm was used to suppress the votes, then his case will have carried the day but if otherwise, he should let Kazi iendelee nad continue to do what he does best…watch dog!

    • Mtalli,I was going along…
Mtalli,I was going along with you till you mentioned “garbage in garbage out” I hope that you are not insinuating that ‘garbage” was put in,if so by who.
I would like to thing that people responsible for the process when keen on making sure that garbage does not go into the system unless by accident. But NASA tend to think that garbage was intentionally poured in to the system.Probably that happened who knows…and that’s why they are in supreme court.
