President Uhuru Kenyatta team is expected expected to file a response to National Super Alliance leader Raila Odinga’s presidential petition at the Supreme Court ahead on Today’s midnight deadline.
Uhuru in a statement on his Facebook page said he was ready to file the response, two days after Raila’s lawyers served the President with the petition.
“We are now ready to file our response,” a message posted on President Kenyatta’s Facebook account read, accompanied by photos of him signing his defence.
In the images, the President is flanked by Jubilee Party Chief Agent and Deputy Chief Agent Davis Chirchir and Winnie Guchu, lawyers Fred Ngatia, Ahmednasir Abdullahi and Evans Monari and Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju.
Odinga filed a petition at the Supreme Court challenging President Kenyatta’s re-election minutes to midnight on Friday, paving the way for a fierce 14-day marathon courtroom battle.
In the petition, Raila listed President Kenyatta, Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and its chairman Wafula Chebukati as respondents.
Parties in the case are expected to make interlocutory applications on Friday Morning, while the pre-trial conference will be held on Saturday.
