President Uhuru Urges Calm as Supreme Court Hears Raila's Petition

President Uhuru Kenyatta has called on Kenyans to continue with their daily transactions even as the Supreme Court hears Presidential petition filed by National Super Alliance (NASA).

“The Judgment will be made and whatever the outcome you should continue peaceful co-existence. It doesn’t matter the outcome, Kenya will still be here. Love one another and live together as brothers,” said President Kenyatta.

NASA leader Raila Odinga on Wednesday said he will discredit president Uhuru Kenyatta’s declaration by IEBC as president elect in the country’s highest judicial court.

While on a tour to Wakulima market in Nairobi on Wednesday, Uhuru, who was accompanied by Nairobi governor-elect Mike Sonko urged Kenyans to maintain peace and co-exist with each other to move Kenya forward.

“Leave us to sort our issues as leaders. Politics should not make you fight. When this market burns down it will not affect one community but all of you,” said the President.

“I have seen all Kenyans doing business here. In this market there are Kambas, Merus, Luos, Kikuyus and all Kenyan communities. Please continue living together peacefully. Be your brothers keeper,” he added.

Nairobi governor-elect Mike Sonko promised traders that he will improve services to Nairobi residents saying once sworn in, and will start by reducing license fees for small-scale traders.

“You should continue with your daily activities as residents of Kibra and traders here at Kenyatta Market just as you have been doing before and after the General Election,” said Sonko.

“Leave us as leaders to tackle our political battles but don’t allow any person to incite you into violence. We have seen those who allowed themselves to be incited losing lives while those who incited them continue enjoying themselves,” he said.

“ I thank you for voting my friend Sonko, I have asked him to ensure he changes the image of this city. He will sink a bore hole here to ensure constant water services to the traders in this market,” said President Kenyatta.

  1. Positive start and way to go…
Positive start and way to go.I have no doubt Nairobi will not just have a facelift but a new image under Sonkos administration.
Finally, thanks to all who voted looter and thief Kidero out of the City government.Everything that goon touches disappears – He steals and unfortunately for him,he has no shame and does not know when to shut up.
He set the bar too low for Nairobi governor but Sonko will undoudtedly raise it.

  2. Wht did he NOT ask for calm…
Wht did he NOT ask for calm before NASA went to court? Because he thought he had been Elected to Kill the Opposition with IMPUNITY. But thank God he has been STOPPED in his Tracks (of IMPUNITY).

  3. Vitendawili, you are right…
Vitendawili, you are right. I said it elsewhere in this blog. I think Uhuru knows the value of Sonko’s appeal to people. My guess is that he will latch on to him to take some credt too. Hope Sonko stays untouched and continue to be in touch with grass roots issues. Bore hole at the market? When did water run dry there ? uhuru should ask himself. I still maintan he is out of touch with issues faced by the likes of the githeri man for example. Guys who voted for him. Altenative would have been worse jamani!! I urge Sonko to stay focussed and aim for 2022. I will right be there cheering him on. Enough said.
