President Uhuru Kenyatta has warned Nairobi residents not to repeat the same mistake they made in 2013 by voting for a governor who does not care about their welfare. In that respect, he asked Peter Kenneth to step down for Jubilee candidate Mike Sonko.
“The time to restore the glory of Nairobi is now and you hold the key to that change. Vote for Jubilee candidates on August 8 and you will see how we will transform this city,” President Kenyatta said at Riruta Stadium in one of the several campaign stops.
The head of state rooted for Jubilee party candidates in Nairobi and called on residents to vote Mike Mbuvi Sonko (Governor), Johnson Sakaja (Senator) and Rachel Shebesh for Women’s Representative as well as Jubilee MPs and MCAs.
“I am here to ask for your votes, to give me the mandate to finish the job. We have laid the foundations for prosperity and now we need to complete the job,” the President said. “But we need a strong team. We need Sonko who understands the city’s residents, and we want you to give us the other aspirants who won clean nominations,” the President added.
The President pointedly asked former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth, who lost Jubilee party primaries, and now contesting for the Nairobi Governor seat on an Independent candidate to shelve his ambitions for Sonko-Igathe team.
“I say to Peter, the people of Nairobi wanted Sonko. Let him get on with the job…We know you have suffered under the current county leadership but we assure you that Sonko and his team will transform that,” President Kenyatta said.
Deputy President William Ruto called on Nairobi residents to give Jubilee another five-year term so they will finish the transformation agenda they began in their first term.
“We have laid the industrialization foundation that will create thousands of jobs for the youth,” the Deputy President said.
He added: “We want to continue the work we are doing. But we also want you to give us a strong Jubilee team led by (Aspirant) Governor Mike Sonko,” the Deputy President said.

@Guest: Uhuru is a young man. He has many years ahead of him. Your idol RAO is the old man who should have retired already. As much as we love Peter Kenneth, he cannot win. So, he needs to step aside and let Kidero and Sonko duke it out.

This is gibberish coming…
This is gibberish coming from Uhuru. Who’s Sonko? Why would he want Nairobi to be under a man of murky background and who only has a superficial understanding of issues? Uhuru is simply afraid Nairobi will propel Peter Kenneth to a height he’s not comfortable with. But again, wajinga ndio waliwao – fools have always voted in these villains who end up preying on the hapless mwananchi…..the vast majority of Kenyans deserve these types of questionable character so-called “leaders” coz they are stupid!
Voters are not stupid. And…
Voters are not stupid. And voting for Sonko as a Nairobi resident is choosing the lesser of two evils. Nairobi has not improved Under Kidero why not give Sonko a chance he has already provided free services like water and medical care to the people who need it most. However Uhuru needs to stop dictating to voters who to vote for

Like every valuable resource out there, smarts in this world are in short supply. The vast majority of earthlings are plain dumb and stupid that’s why we have all these problems. Hey, see who’s in the White House right now, voted/elected in by who? And you dare say voters aren’t stupid? Why do we always vote in thieves who thrive in pilferage, draining the country of resources and perpetuating poverty for the masses? The same masses, blinded by the smooth talk of these wolves every 5 years end up electing them back to office! Again, wajinga ndo waliwao, to hell with Kenyan politics!
