NASA to Test its Parallel Tallying Centre

The opposition coalition National Super Alliance (NASA) will be testing its parallel vote tallying center next week ahead of next month’s polls.

Sources close to the opposition outfit revealed that they will hold a mock result relaying in real time for twenty selected counties on Thursday to test its efficiency and effectiveness in the build-up of the August 8 poll.

People hired in the NASA’s “adopt a polling station” initiative will familiarize themselves with the system as they link with the national office for the first time since they signed contracts a fortnight ago.

Local and foreign experts from Germany and South Africa will showcase the system to NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga, running mate Kalonzo Musyoka and the other three NASA co-principals Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetang’ula and Isaac Ruto at the Centre located in Nairobi’s Runda area.

NASA campaign supremo Musalia Mudavadi said that the parallel result relaying center was good to go, as they look to prevent possible manipulation of the poll result by the ruling party.

 “The centre is as good as ready,” he said adding they will pitch tent in Nyamira on Sunday to drum up support for the NASA coalition.

The opposition’s parallel vote tallying system will heavily borrow from the one used by Ghana’s opposition New Patriotic Party to guard its votes against incumbent Nana Akufo-Addo, which successfully lodged him out of power.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is on record saying that the opposition will employ the voter monitoring and transmission strategy employed by Ghana’s NPP to defeat John Mahama, which marked the first time an incumbent president lost an election in the West Africa country.
