President Uhuru Kenyatta has issued a tough warning that politicians fomenting violence ahead of the August 8th general elections will face the full force of the law, saying that the government will not condone impunity.

Speaking during the funeral service of the late Laikipia Senator G.G Kariuki on Friday, the head of state said that the country cannot afford another spell of election violence.

“I am issuing a stern warning to those who imagine they have the right to displace some people, kill or to steal other people’s property. Let them know they are dreaming because Kenyans must live in peace,” the President warned.

President Uhuru called on Kenyans to cooperate with security forces and urged political tolerance during and after the campaign period. He said that no violence in Laikipia or any other parts of the country will occur under his watch.

“We are not saying that we do not have challenges, but a solution cannot be found through threatening your colleague but through dialogue as we were taught by Mzee (GG Kariuki),” he said.

“Let no one think there will be any violence.”

“Just like GG Kariuki, leaders should serve all without caring about their ethnicity,” he said.

Deputy President William Ruto described Kariuki as a great leader who served a cosmopolitan county without sidelining a particular community.

“When the history of Kenya will be written and it doesn’t have a paragraph about GG, then that history will be incomplete,” the DP stated.

“He was a special man. It is my prayer that this great Kenyan who has made a huge contribution to our country, that God will favor him with peace and with a place in eternity,” he said.

Mr president , I echo your decree . Politics should not be equated with violence. Every five years Kenya holds democratic election and the best wins and we move on . Supporting or opposing doesn’t mean you hate the other person. Crack the whip on war mongers and inciters . No life should be lost because of elections . Candidates sale your policies and allow your opponents to do the same everywhere.

IEBC please monitor and punish aspirants stoking fear and intimidation anywhere any time. Presidential aspirants educate your perceived strong holds to open up and listen to your opponent when they visit or just not to attend if they have made up their minds on who to vote for.

Heckling , shouting and stoning is immaturity and the most crude display of misguided loyalty or stupidity . I hate to see our leaders being heckled and stoned.

At best don’t attend the rally if you have a problem or beholden to tribal ignorance.

Again Mr President, it is on you to guarantee security to the nation and protect all . Please let us not witness violence. After 8-8 , we should welcome the result and shake hands , move on .

IEBC make sure the election are free and fair .

    We love Kenya .

@Guest, you are sooo stupid to remember that the heinous atrocities of 2007/08 started with the cry of brainwashed hooligans “No Raila, No peace!!!” Certainly, Uhuru wasn’t the ringleader of ignorant fools who were in the streets shouting “No Raila, No peace!” — Your idol god was! So, you idol worshipper should be the last ignorant fool to say anything about 2007/08 PEV.
