President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga have sharply clashed over claims that the former Prime Minister told some communities to return to their ancestral lands.

Speaking in Bomet on Friday, the head of state criticized Raila, saying that he was inciting Kenyans to violence by taking the same path that resulted to 2007/08 post-elections violence.

“Yesterday (Thursday), he was talking about “wenye inchi and wenye wanafaa kurudi kwao” (those who own the land and those who should return to where they came from) and that is the same language he used to create conflict the last time,” said the President.

The head of state was speaking in refence to sentiments Raila Odinga made while on a campaign tour in Kajiado, insinuating that non-locals who had purchased land in the region should stay in their ‘ancestral land’. “…until now there is no land because of poverty…we want to change that so that people don’t sell their parcels.”

“Keep your land with you so that you don’t cry foul later on…let the buyers remain at their places of origin,” Raila said.

In a rejoinder, Raila accused the President of framing him up over the issue asking him to focus on addressing the issues hurting Kenyans.

“The President has, out of the blues, accused Odinga of asking communities to return to their ancestral lands. Odinga has made no such utterances,” Raila said through his aide, Dennis Onyango.

“Show him that he cannot take us back to where we came from,” President who was accompanied by his Deputy William Ruto, told Bomet Residents at the Green stadium.

  1. With the technology we have…
With the technology we have today, one shouldn’t say he said or he didn’t say. All the speeches are recorded and should be produced to prove who is right or wrong. If Raila really said those words, he should be held accountable of preparing to incite violence as he did ten years ago.

  2. Common Sense:…
    Common Sense:
It’s OBVIOUS that “KEEP your land (the land you still own) with you” is far DIFFERENT from “KICK out those ‘foreigners’ who ALREADY have bought your land.”
    Case in Point:
Raila NEVER meant the “KICK out” he is being accused of; he meant the “KEEP your land”; in other words “don’t SELL your land!!!” lest you REGRET later.
    So:
Hii Mambo ya Kumsingizia na Kumtilia Raila CHUMVI, heri Ikome Mara Moja kwa ajili ni Uongo na Upumbavu mtupu.

cry baby a.k.a Joshua a.k.a Ojinga Demonic Movement a.k.a O.D.M leader a.k.a my uncle knows that he has already lost the elections and now he is resorting to doing what he knows best – inciting Kenyans so we can rise against each other, maim and kill each other like he did in 2007/2008 looking for the inclusion in the nusu mkeka, nusu mkate Grand Coalition government.
Since then,a lot of water have passed under the bridge and Kenyans are more wiser, knowledgeable and smarter and they can tell an inciter or a political conman when they see or hear one.
He started by inciting the people of Laikipia the other day and now the peace loving brothers and sisters in Kajiado. The same incitement though low key is being echoed by one Isaac Rutto in Bomet county and the larger South Rift Valley region.
Ojinga can fool Kenyans sometimes but he cannot succeed to fool us all the time and that is why today,my family and I have decided that we will not vote for an inciter and a visionless Ojinga but a leader who will preach peace and cohesiveness of our nation.
I will also marshall all my friends, colleagues and family through our ever growing strong organization – KARAO – Kenyans Against Raila Amolo Ojinga – to ask Kenyans never to vote for my uncle in any elective position in Kenya because he is a bad apple in the basket.
Watch this space for names of those politicians that KARAO has also listed as more bad apples for Kenyans.

@Guest1,my uncle Ojinga and yourself are the Devil and Lords of Poverty and incitement.
If you deny, tell us what my uncle did to the people of Kibra for twenty years!
Nothing. He left them worse off than he found them. People don’t eat Vitendawili na habari za mpira.
Simply put – Ojinga is bad for Kenya and he has been since he attempted to overthrown a legitimate government in 1982.He is a blood thirsty Nilote doomed to fail every five years he runs for political office because the gods have conspired to work against him. In fact, to be more blunt, my uncle has never been a presidential material but a detention material and you can take that to the bank.
