National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential running mate and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has issued fresh demands on Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) asking it to have their candidate in the Bungoma Senate seat back down.
Speaking when he accompanied Wetangula for the IEBC clearance in Nairobi on Monday, Kalonzo asked ODM to leave the seat for Wetangula.
”With all due respect, this is not a matter to even deliberate on. It’s all on record on our accord. It is common sense that Wetang’ula is a core principal of NASA, who shelved his presidential ambition for ODM hence they must shelve the other seats in his home turf of western, especially here in Bungoma,” Kalonzo said.
Kalonzo sentiments were echoed by Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale who asked other candidates wrestling Wetangula to also back down.
”We apologize to our brother Musalia Mudavadi (ANC leader) and ask him to tell Makali to step down in a show of respect for Wetang’ula. When NASA forms the next government he will be considered for the position as Wetang’ula will step down to take his government position,” said Khalwale, who is also vying for the Kakamega governor seat, held by ODM deputy party leader, Wycliffe Oparanya.
