Jubilee has accused the opposition coalition National Super Alliance (NASA) of planning to rig the August 8 elections by intimidating the electoral body IEBC.
Speaking at a rally outside KICC in Nairobi after President Uhuru Kenyatta was cleared by the poll management body to seek re-election, National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale accused said that Jubilee was aware of the opposition plan to interfere with the August 8 elections.
With just under three months to elections, the opposition team has challenged the decision by IEBC to appeal a high court ruling that compelled it to admit constituency tallying centers results as final.
The opposition team has also vowed to set a parallel tallying Centre that will compile presidential results from all the 290 constituencies, in what they said is a measure to ensure that the elections were not rigged.
“As Jubilee we are aware of the schemes by opposition to rig us. They want to use a parallel tallying Centre to create confusion.
“We cannot allow continued intimidation of IEBC officials. We shall deploy at least ten youths to guard our votes if they think they can outsmart us,” said the National Assembly Majority Leader.
The opposition has also constantly warned the electoral body and the Jubilee party against interfering with the August 8 polls, and it now turning to a blame game.
Anti-IEBC protests by the opposition saw the disbandment of the Isaac Hassan Commission, who the opposition accused of rigging Jubilee in the 2013 elections, leading to the appointment of the new team that is led by Wafula Chebukati.
Now or never again! Remember…
Now or never again! Remember “By hook or by crook” I will win. So, the plot to rig is there. But will it succeed? Who will be the bigger rigger? Just asking.
