Uhuru, Raila Lead Other Aspirants in Presenting their Self-Declared Forms to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission

Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga have led other political aspirants in submitting their self-declaration forms to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

Others who have submitted their forms to the EACC include 9 other presidential aspirants, 3 running mates, 263 gubernatorial aspirants, 81 deputy gubernatorial aspirants, 333 senatorial aspirants, 361 Women’s Representative aspirants, 1,964 MP aspirants, and 12,913 MCA aspirants.

All candidates are expected to submit their self-declared forms for EACC to conduct a through background clearance on the candidates to ensure they meet the leadership and integrity requirement as spelled out in Chapter 6 of the Constitution.

Among the questions the candidates are needed to answer in the form include whether or not one has engaged in abuse of office, whether or not one has misrepresented information to the public, whether or not one has engaged in any kind of dishonest conduct of public affairs, and whether or nor one has missed public resources.

The candidates are also supposed to answer whether they have failed to declare income and whether they have falsified official or personal records.

“We’re doing our part in terms of doing what we are required to do so that we can vet those people who want to stand for elections,” AECC Chairman Retired Archbishop Eliud Wabukala said on Wednesday during an event launching the partnership between his commission and faith-based organizations.
