The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) nominations for Nairobi County will kick off on Sunday with key battles expected at the constituency and ward levels.
Senate aspirant Gabriel Bukachi and Governor Evans Kidero are unopposed are waiting to lock horns with Jubilee’s Johnstone Sakaja and Mike Sonko respectively in the August general elections.
A fierce battle is expected in Kibra as incumbent MP Ken Okoth will face former head of Raila Odinga presidential campaign secretariat Eliud Owalo and Martin Okoth. Raila Odinga’s daughter Rosemary Odinga recently withdrew from that race citing health issues.
Revolutionary Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati will also face a strong challenger in former councilor Elphas Nganyi and Albert Ekodo.
In Lang’ata constituency, incumbent Joash Olum is in a titanic battle with seven other aspirants seeking to oust him from the seat; Ahmed Papa, Jared Omolo, Musaari Syongoh, Alex Otieno and Violet Okinda are among those battling Olum for the seat.
County Assembly deputy speaker Kennedy Ngondi is looking to dislodge incumbent Shad Sumra in Embakasi South while in Embakasi East, former Students Organisation of Nairobi University (SONU) chairman Babu Owino will battle it out with Francis Wekesa, George Bhutto and Philip Bosire among others.
Former Makadara MP Reuben Ndolo will tussle ODM Nairobi county chairman and former City Mayor George Aladwa for the Makadara seat.
