Several foreign missions including US, UK, Canada and Germany are monitoring the ongoing Orange Democratic Movement nominations in the country.
Sources have revealed that a team of observers have been pitching tents at the Party headquarters Orange House in Nairobi keeping an eye as results to the Orange Party primaries continue to trickle in.
According to the Star, the missions are also monitoring the dispute resolution process for the Raila led party to see whether it lives to its democratic ideologies. The foreigners interviewed political aspirants and the supporters that have been visiting the Orange House to get a picture of the ongoing exercise.
“We are keenly monitoring the nominations as part of our normal election monitoring process,” Pannel Jamie, from the Canadian High Commission, said. Jamie told the Star that they have stepped in in the primaries to guarantee democracy.
The observes were accredited by the IEBC and ODM and are expected to make a areport after the close of the exercise.
Other observes under the European Union are said to be monitoring not just the ODM nominations, but also those of the ruling Jubilee Party.
