Kenya Airways, Safaricom Named in List of 100 Best Companies in Africa

Kenya Airways has been named in the top 100 best companies to work for in the continent of Africa.

The ranking follows a survey that interviewed more than 20,000 African professionals on questions about employee engagement and work conditions.

Most of the respondents mentioned opportunities to learn new skills, quality of healthcare provisions, leadership and opportunities for advancement as key indicators of great employers.

World Bank Group, Chevron, Exxon Mobil and the African Development Bank emerged as the top four best companies in the “2018 Careers in Africa Employer of Choice Survey.”

Other Kenyan companies that made it to the list include; Centum, British African Tobacco (BAT), Safaricom, and East African Breweries.

Others include; Shell, Tullow Oil, General Electrics, Bridge International Academies, Total, DHL, Agakhan, Standard Chartered Bank, Coca Cola, Deloitte and Barclays.

Global Career Company Managing Director Alex Mugan said trust in senior company leadership was mentioned as the third most important factor in choosing an employer.

“Add to this that more than a quarter don’t feel listened to in their organisations and we have the makings of a serious schism between what talent is looking for and what it is getting. This isn’t a problem confined to the top levels of leadership, with concerns raised also around performance management, fairness and accountability.”

“The problems are worse when we view the responses of female professionals alone, for which the gap between expectation and reality is more significant still.”

  1. KQ, with all that…
KQ, with all that retrenchment and job insecurity? Wonder who paid for the survey.

    • How many of these companies…
How many of these companies are run by Kenyans? KQ and Safaricom are run by who? Standard Bank is run by who? Keep going with this question. See the companies or sectors run by Kenyans: NYS, Hospitals, KRA , IEBC….you get the point?
