President Ruto has announced plans to double the funds allocated to tertiary institutions by the government.
Speaking in Laare, Meru County, on Saturday, the president said the move will help the institutions to improve the quality of education.
“From May, we are going to have a new and comprehensive funding mechanism,” he said.
Ruto, who spoke during the launch of the tarmacking of the Kaelo-Kamukunji-Mutuati Road, also reiterated his administration’s commitment to increasing farmers’ income and creating economic opportunities for all Kenyans.
He noted that the government has put in place a new regulation reducing Miraa levies to boost earnings.
“Now that we have removed those levies and fees, the Miraa business will thrive,” he added.
The president pointed out that the new regulation has also unlocked a market in Somalia for Miraa following negotiations with the government.
Ruto later commissioned the Kiirua Buuri Irrigation Development Project which is expected to benefit more than 5,000 farmers in the area.
“It will improve food and nutrition security besides enhancing farm income to Sh400 million a year…We must make our Agriculture commercial and sustainable so that we can break the poverty cycle that is associated with farming,” he noted.
President Ruto maintained that he will not take part in any exercise meant to further the interest of politicians at the expense of the people.
SAMOEI:
We are still waiting…
SAMOEI:
We are still waiting for you to initiate the process of arresting all those involved in the Kiambaa Church holocaust near Eldoret. This happened over 15 years ago.
One famous philosopher once said:
” Those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it.”
-George Santayana
The Israelis are still looking for any person who participated in the holocaust of Jews over 70 years ago. They are making an effort to arrest and bring to trial anyone involved in their relatives and friends’ premature death.
Over 30 people perished in the Kiambaa holocaust. Why haven’t you made an effort to start the process of arresting anyone involved in this tragedy?
First pay the Uni students…
First pay the Uni students what you already owe them before you claim on a high horse to talk Baloney. Useless!.
Kenyan universities do not…
Kenyan universities do not need more funding. They need a change of the education itself:
” Any education that does not take into consideration inseparable unity between the African lineage and African thinking is based on false principles and must lead to the alienation of the individual from his own people, from himself and his principles”
Times are changing and Africans must educate their children about their history, their God and their culture.
African needs must be catered for and must be met by Africans in their own languages.
A change in budget will not improve the quality of education. We need a vision that will see local languages replace foreign languages.
Foreign languages have no regard for who we are individually or our needs. It only meets the needs of foreigners and what they think Africans want or deserve.
