Internet comedian Elsa Majimbo is among four Kenyans featured in Forbes Africa’s 2022 list of the top 30 under 30 individuals on the continent.
Majimbo, 20, made it to the list alongside 27-year-old Ruguru Kimani, e-gamer Sylvia Gathoni (23), and Mukuru Clean Stoves founder Charlot Magayi (28).
Majimbo was lauded for her creativity as a social media influencer, Ruguru emerged top in the Child Health and Parenting category, Gathoni was recognized for being a champion of E-Sports in the continent while Magayi was recognized for her continued endorsement of clean energy.
The list, released for the eighth consecutive year, shines a light on Africans under the age of 30 who are contributing to the growth of the continent.
“This year’s list focuses on money and meaning and the class of 2022 are shining a light on the issues plaguing Africa’s growth in a pandemic era and also working towards shifting the narrative in innovative ways,” Forbes Africa said in a statement.
Winners were selected by a panel made up of editors from Forbes Africa, who sieved through thousands of nominations to research, verify and vet all candidates.
Majimbo rose to fame at the height of the Covid-19 global lockdowns in 2020 through her funny videos in which she shared satirical jokes while eating crisps.
The Strathmore University alumnus has since been featured on international media platforms such as The Guardian, New York Times, CNN, BBC, Forbes, among others.
