Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria is set to fly abroad for specialized treatment.
Kuria was admitted to Karen Hospital with three-degree burns on his feet about three weeks ago and has undergone at least three surgeries.
The MP was injured while using an electric therapeutic mat he had purchased from a Nairobi-based company for Sh250,000 to cure numbness in his feet.
“A friend of mine convinced me to use a gadget which to my knowledge I thought was authorized. This gadget happened to do some slow-burning of my feet. I was trying to cure a problem by introducing a killer solution. I went home at night and my feet just exploded,” Kuria said during an interview last month.
“I came here the following day and they said I had third-degree burns. They had to do some emergency surgery, then they did a proper surgery, and as late as yesterday yet another surgery. Something that was supposed to be a solution has seen me undergo three surgeries.”
The politician is expected to travel to either India or China for corrective surgery.
Kuria, who is still admitted to the hospital, said he will be suing Ceragem Limited, the company behind the mat.

Remember also how you used to despise and disrespect the disabled? “You can’t sue kenya power when your electric iron overheats and burns the house coz you couldn’t smell the smoke or feel the heat, will you! Blame your malfunctioning or failed sensory nerves a.k.a neuropathy due to advanced diabetes that you never knew you have. Next, go check your kidneys and have your blood pressure controlled so you may not be placed on dialysis or lose your kidneys. After that, do a liver biopsy, as you are known to drink silly! Cirrhosis or ALD may be or come knocking soon. Wish u well though! God is good.
