President Kenyatta has pledged to help the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) complete a hospital project in Nyeri county.
Kenyatta said the government will set aside Sh100 million towards the completion of the ongoing expansion of PCEA Tumutumu Mission Hospital in the spirit of government-church partnership.
He spoke on Sunday at PCEA Tumutumu where he attended a special service to mark 100 years since the ordination of the pioneer group of 43 church elders.
Uhuru hailed PCEA for its contribution to the development of the education and healthcare sector in the country.
“It is not just the gospel which the church spreads. This church mixed the spreading of the gospel, with education and taking care of health. They treated the soul, treated the mind, and treated the body.”
“The government will continue to partner with the church in giving service to the people. You have a partner in me and a partner in my government,” Uhuru said.

Oh God! Here we go…I…
Oh God! Here we go…I thought separation of Religion from the state is in the constitution? I hope we are not dumb. We need to read between the lines. He is smoothening people so that he can hold on to power. Muslims provide that tax money that the government is then using to support Christianity. Would you be surprised if AlShabab seizes this opportunity to radicalize Muslims in Kenya?
On this mugathee, I agree…
On this mugathee, I agree with you. Churches should do more to the communities they Minister to. The revenues they generate should do as you said, ” treat the soul, the mind and the body”!
The tithes corrected need do far more beyond the work of God. Some Churches have built community centres for the sick, windowed, abandoned street families and old citizens. I appreciate the few Churches that are doing so. What I can urge Church Pastors not to do,is self gratification.Bling bling show off, material wealth show off, and good-lifestyle showoff.
Like Job said in the bible, “naked we came to this world and naked shall we return”
Let all humble down and cherish in improving the life and welfare of others. These are the values I honor from Mother Theresa!
