Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang Nyong’o says President Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga played a big role in DRC President Felix Tshisekedi’s victory in the presidential election held in January 2019.
Nyong’o, who was speaking in Nairobi on Wednesday during the requiem mass of President Tshisekedi’s advisor Gilbert Mundela, said Kenyatta and Odinga helped in organizing the DRC opposition ahead of the election.
He observed that the two mobilized support from Africa and other parts of the world, efforts that saw Tshisekedi trounce ruling party’s candidate Joseph Kabila and another opposition politician, Martin Fayulu of Engagement for Citizenship and Development party.
“I must thank President Kenyatta and Odinga who had faith in us and went ahead to embrace both the presidential candidate Tshisekedi and his party, the Union of Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS),” Nyong’o said as quoted by Daily Nation.
Mundela, who succumbed to cardiac arrest at Nairobi Hospital last Friday, was President Tshisekedi’s adviser in charge of Private affairs. He was in Nairobi for a mission when he passed away.
