Equity Bank Chief Executive Officer James Mwangi has been appointed to the Columbia University’s Global Centers-Nairobi Advisory Board.
In his new role, Mwangi is expected to work with other board members to steer the Centre on key regional matters and emerging issues among them leadership, technological advances and higher educational advances in the region.
While announcing the appointment, Columbia University President Lee Bollinger says Mwangi brings his vast experience and knowledge to the board.
“We believe Dr. Mwangi’s experience in the region, as well as the wealth of knowledge, will be instrumental to this advisory board and guide the university on strategic initiatives and endeavors within the region,” states Bollinger.
Columbia Global Centre – Nairobi branch is one of the nine centers globally that are run by the New York-based University.
The Nairobi Center serves as a regional hub for research and collaboration as part of the US University’s strategy to achieve a global presence.
The Center works closely with policymakers, governments, and African regional institutions and provides Columbia students and academics with a base from which to conduct research in and for Africa.
