The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has reportedly fired Harrison Mumia, the President of Atheists in Kenya Society.
A dismissal letter shared by Mumia on social media shows that CBK sacked him over alleged gross misconduct, disobedience, and insubordination.
The institution accuses Mumia of publishing politically provocative materials on Twitter, which breaches its statutes and guidelines on the exercise of political neutrality.
“It is noted that you have of late through your Twitter account @harrisonmumia posted highly provocative statements, which on the face are in violation of not only bank rules, policies and guideline,” reads a letter from CBK.
However, Mumia terms his suspension as malicious and accuses the organization of trying to gag its employees’ freedom of expression.
“The freedom of expression overrides every legislation, what you think and how you feel,” he says.
Mumia, who has worked for CBK for 11 years, questions why the organization picked him out while other employees have also been expressing their political views on social media.
“That is not HR practice, the move to sack me based on my personal tweets is unethical,” he says, adding that the move is linked to his stand as an atheist.
“Why me when most of my other colleagues have been tweeting. Is it because I am an atheist, Is it religious discrimination? These are the things that the court will have to determine,” he says.
He says he will move to court to seek damages amounting to Sh35 million.
Good riddance?.
Good riddance?.
“Harrison Mumia, president…

That is my question too.
That is my question too.
Sue them. Freedom of…
Sue them. Freedom of expression is inalienable. Even for CBK employees.

….ignorance is bliss…..
There is no difference…
There is no difference between an Atheist and Theist. There is no difference between someone who believes in God and someone who doesn’t believe in God. Both are still believers, only in opposite direction. The fact remains that both do not have the courage to say “What I know, I know and what I don’t know, I don’t know.” They are both just believing recycled data that someone told them to believe in. Something they never experienced. Both do not know the immensity of ignorance. Only once you realize you don’t know, then the need to seek arises and the possibility of knowing become a reality. You need to associate with ignorance rather than proclaiming belief in dogmas that you never experienced.
So you are saying that a…
So you are saying that a person who lacks belief in the existence of God or gods, the very definition of atheist, believes in what again? Perhaps if you write in vernacular you might make more sense.
Theist – a person who…
Theist – a person who believes in the existence of a god or gods, specifically of a creator who intervenes in the universe. Atheis – a person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of God or gods. In other words, they strongly believe their is no God. They both lacks the courage to just say, “What I know, I know. What I don’t know, I don’t know.”
Disbelieving or lacking…
Disbelieving or lacking belief is not the same as believing; the are opposites my fren’. So if you say that you “believe in santa claus”, the opposite is you “lack belief in santa claus”. Atheist lack belief in God because the evidence of this being is insufficient. They don’t “strongly believe there is no God”. Just show them a person who died yesterday and they see him or her walking in the streets tomorrow and they will readily believe there is a God. Got it?
