Gov’t Reinstates Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s Security Detail

The government has reinstated Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s security detail days after he declared support for President Kenyatta.

The security officers attached to Musyoka and his homes were withdrawn at the height of last year’s acrimonious presidential election pitting Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Daily Nation reports that General Service Unit officers assigned to Musyoka’s Karen home as well as Administration Police officers guarding his Yatta and Tseikuru rural residences have been restored.

The Wiper leader has also been given more personal bodyguards in addition to a vehicle fitted with a siren to clear traffic.

Speaking at the burial of his father Peter Mairu on Friday, Kalonzo said he’s ready to be President Uhuru’s right-hand man.

“From today, in front of this crowd and before the clergy, I want to ask that no one come between President Kenyatta and me. Let no one come between my children and the President’s children. From today, I am President Kenyatta’s right-hand man,” he said.

Speaking at the same function, President Kenyatta hinted at handing Musyoka a job.

“I am grateful that Raila has been given a job by AU … He will be able to contribute here and don’t you think he will bring some money to Kenya? My brother Kalonzo should (also) help us to bring the country together and foster peace for all Kenyans and even internationally. Every leader has something to contribute … all we need is to give each other space and respect one another!” said Kenyatta.
