Nairobi Man Accused of Swindling Desperate Kenyans with Promise of Finding them Jobs Abroad Arrested

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a man who has been swindling Kenyans with false promises of finding them lucrative jobs abroad.

Detectives say 37-year-old Joseph Kipkoech Keino from Nairobi’s South B estate has been asking money from jobless Kenyans, promising to secure them employment in Qatar.

The DCI says the suspect will be charged with obtaining money under false pretences.

Many desperate Kenyans looking for employment have traveled to Middle East countries including Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia with hope of securing jobs but end up regretting.

In recent years, cases of Kenyans being misused, tortured and even killed by ruthless Middle East employers have been reported.

Others find themselves stuck in the foreign countries for lack of travel documents and flight tickets back home after falling out with their employers.

Four months ago, a Kenyan woman identified as Marion Mary Machuma was allegedly beaten to death by her employer in Dubai after she demanded for her dues.
