President Uhuru Kenyatta has expressed his disappointment with those linking the renewed fight against corruption to politics.
Speaking to Voice of America (VoA) during the just-concluded visit to the United States, Uhuru urged leaders to separate war on graft from politics and instead rally behind the government’s bid to tame graft lords.
“There is no politics in the war against corruption and I urge people not to bring in politics in this. We have to fight this vice so that we stop the pilferage of public resources,” President Kenyatta said.
Kenyatta said the vice derails Kenya’s socio-economic transformation and vowed not to relent the fight.
“Corruption destroys our economy. It wastes public resources, resources that could be used to buy drugs for our hospitals, construct roads, supply electricity and other essential services that Kenyans,” he said.
The President said the war on corruption is not about him but about Kenyans who want to see value for their money.
“As a leader, you must bear in mind that you are not there to enrich yourself but you are there because of your commitment to prosper the people you lead,” said President Kenyatta.
Kenyatta jetted back to the country after holding successful talks with US President Donald Trump at the White House in Washington, DC.

Its so sad, I can’t…
Its so sad, I can’t participate in charade of nonsense ( Kenya in news)Sonko n uhuru’s actions while none of this action are helping fix the corruption that already exists. Fix the system not “show” Demolition is just a way to channel cash back back to their pockets. while the public eyes are misguided by the actions. The funding and tenders of new contracts willl go to friends of the leader while they publicly humiliated others they are authorizing release of friends wife, when was he the policeman that’s corruption-in highest form ,but public to focused on demolition. Paying for clinic debt to get free drugs is nonsense, you haven’t fixed the practices that got them in postion in first place. Shilling 146 million of taxpayer money went to fakes drug vendor. The drugs should have been free in the first place.(govt clinic) How did they acquire debt? Who are supplier? Is it only me thinking this things?
