Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru is scheduled to deliver a talk at the Royal Institute of International Affairs, commonly known as Chatham House in London, United Kingdom early next month.
Waiguru will give the talk on July 4th between noon and 1pm Kenyan time. Chatham House’s mission is to analyse and promote the understanding of major international issues and current affairs.
Waiguru will deliver the speech in her capacity as the vice chair of Council of Governors’, an umbrella body for all the 47 county heads in the country.
She will address devolution issues during the talk titled; “Five Years of Devolution in Kenya: Towards Inclusion, Gender Equality and Accountable Governance.”
“Waiguru will discuss her perspectives on the successes and challenges of implementing devolution, and Natasha Kimani will present findings from her research on gender responsiveness in county planning and budgeting,” reads an invite from the organisers.
The forum will be chaired by Nathalie Delapalme, the Executive Director, Mo Ibrahim Foundation.
Kenyans on Twitter have started a campaign under hashtag #SomeoneTellChathamHouse, seeking to have Waiguru’s talk cancelled, citing her previous link to corruption that saw her resign as Devolution Cabinet Secretary.
