Leaders Endorse Interior CS Fred Matiang'i for Deputy President Seat in 2022

A section of leaders drawn from Kisii County have thrown their weight behind Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i for the Deputy President seat in the 2022 elections.

The leaders asked Deputy President William Ruto to pick the no nonsense CS as his running mate in 2022, arguing that he is the most qualified person for the position.

The group which spoke during a fundraiser for Nyakembene Primary School in Boikang’a in Kisii County, further noted that Matiang’i has an incredible track record, thus, he is fit to be the country’s DP.

The leaders included Jubilee nominated Senator Millicent Omanga, MPs Silvanus Osoro (South Mugirango) and Bonchari’s John Oyioka.

“William Ruto is assured of winning the Presidency in 2022 with our brother Fred Matiang’i as the Deputy President, they make a good combination since they are both workaholics,” said Senator Omanga.

MP Osoro said a DP William Ruto-Matiang’i partnership in the 2022 race for State House would be unbeatable.

“Our brother Matiang’i has performed exemplary in his duties as a Cabinet Secretary for the last five years. We believe he is the best candidate to be the Deputy President in 2022,” said Osoro.

“Our Brother Matiang’i is hardworking and does not tolerate nonsense, he represents the true character of our people who value honesty and integrity in everything that they do,” said MP Oyioka.

However, speaking during the same function where Sh3 million was raised, Matiang’i stated that it was not time for politics, but for elected leaders to fulfill their pledge to Kenyans.

“Our people are interested in development, I would therefore like to call on Governor James Ongwae, Senator Sam Ongeri and all the legislators from Kisii County to join hands to champion the interests of our people,” said Matiang’i.
