Chief Justice David Maraga Demands for Increased Security for Judiciary Staff Following Magistrate's Carjacking Incident

Chief Justice David Maraga has asked Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinnet to to assign more security officers to Judiciary staff following an incident where Kwale Chief Magistrate Doreen Mulekyo was carjacked.

Mrs Mulekyo was reportedly carjacked on Thursday night at Diani shopping centre, but managed to later escape unhurt.

“I call upon the police to ensure theatre culprits are arrested. We want to see better security for all our staff, and indeed all Kenyans,” the CJ said.

“Last night’s carjacking of Mulekyo was a shocking incident to the entire Judiciary. We thank God she wasn’t hurt,” he added.

Mulekyo’s incident comes after another incident where Deputy Chief Justice, Philomena Mwilu’s driver and bodyguard was shot three times by assailants in Nairobi on October. Mwilu was in the vehicle during the attack.

  1. May I ask where the funds…
May I ask where the funds will come from after all the money bled for the election and repeat shams? I would advise Maraga that carjacking among other crimes are the living reality of the common mwanainchi. It’s barely a societal reflection of the widening gap between the “haves and not haves”. This man needs a reality check.
