National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga has called on supporters taking part in anti-IEBC protests to shun violence.
The former Prime Minister told his supporters against lighting bonfires and blocking roads, saying it is erodes the very reforms they are fighting for.
Raila’s remarks comes only days after a group of protesters in Kisumu town made their way to Tumaini Supermarket on Friday and looted property worth million of shillings. They also vandalized water pipes, leaving a section of Kisumu city without water supply.
More ugly incidents of chaos and violence were witnessed in Siaya, Homa Bay, Bondo and Migori during last week’s demos.
Speaking to a group of church leaders at the St Stephen’s ACK Kisumu via video link on Saturday, the Orange Party leader maintained that the protests will continue until their demands are met.
”I beseech our people with all kindness and humility to desist from acts of hooliganism that may undermine the tenets of democracy that we are fighting for,” said Raila.
“When I was minister for Roads I influenced the tarmacking of the major highways in the town and it would defy logic for our children to light bonfires on them,” he said.

You see, you should have realized that calling for these terroristic threats and demonstrations would first hurt your so called supporters the most, esp in githumo (sic). Don’ think for one moment that you now sound “presidential” just because you sounded reasonable in one presser!
