Kenyan motorsport prodigy Amaan Ganatra continues to make waves in the international racing scene, building upon his impressive performances in the Kenya National Autocross Championship.
His recent return to the British motorsport arena has further solidified his reputation as a rising star in the field. In his latest outing, Ganatra secured a podium finish in the British Rallycross Championship’s Swift Rallycross Juniors’ category. Driving a 1300cc naturally aspirated Suzuki Swift with standard gearbox and suspension, he claimed third place in a fiercely competitive field. Ganatra expressed satisfaction with the car’s handling and the track’s diverse challenges, noting a marked improvement from his previous year’s experience.
The Swift Rallycross Juniors’ category is renowned for its level playing field, where young drivers compete in identical Suzuki Swift cars. This format emphasizes driver skill over mechanical advantages, creating an unpredictable and exciting racing environment. In the most recent round, Ganatra faced stiff competition with Tyler McAlpin and Teddie Macpherson securing the top two positions. Ganatra’s motorsport journey began at an early age, influenced by his father, Altaf Ganatra, a seasoned rally driver. This early exposure, combined with his father’s guidance, has been instrumental in shaping his racing career.
Currently, Amaan pilots a Mitsubishi Evolution machine, adopting the aggressive driving style characteristic of his father. While motorsport remains his primary focus, Ganatra maintains a holistic approach to his athletic development. He engages in various sports, particularly athletics to enhance his physical fitness for racing events. The Swift Sport Rallycross Championship, launched in 2010, has proven to be an excellent platform for aspiring drivers. It offers a springboard for talented individuals to showcase their skills and attract sponsorship opportunities. Ganatra’s participation in the UK’s Swift Rallycross Championship this season is a strategic move to gain crucial international exposure.
He recognizes the need for fresh momentum in his burgeoning racing career and sees this championship as an opportunity to test his mettle against some of the best young drivers in the sport. In addition to his rallycross endeavours, Ganatra has also ventured into the Cross Kart Championship, an event organized by WRC Hyundai Motorsport lead driver Thierry Neuville. Ganatra’s recent achievements in the British Rallycross Championship have not gone unnoticed. His podium finish has attracted attention from sponsors and motorsport enthusiasts alike, potentially opening doors for future opportunities in his racing career.
