Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has given relationship advice to young couples days after separating from his wife Lillian Nganga.
Speaking during an interview on Friday, Mutua urged young people to treat their partners kindly and move on with life in case of a break-up.
He added it is wrong for people who loved each other to become enemies when their relationship comes to an end.
“I see young people wanakosana wanatukanana na kupigana, if you have been in love with somebody that love never goes away. Everybody should treat the other kindly and move on with life. Maisha iko hivo,” Mutua noted.
He added: “I’m a believer in love and I believe that you need to never give up on love, regards of what… and always celebrate the people coming to your life. Always have a relationship with everybody who is coming into your life that is amicable, a relationship of friendliness.”
Mutua and Nganga announced the end of their marriage on Sunday but did not disclose the cause of the split.
“Winds of change blew my way and two months ago, I decided to end the long-term relationship with Dr. Alfred Mutua. We had a good run and I am forever grateful to God he brought us together. We remain friends,” Nganga said in a statement posted on Instagram.
Governor Mutua confirmed the same on his social media accounts, saying they will remain close friends.
“Two months ago, we decided to slowly disengage. We are on amicable terms and remain very close as friends. We will continue to talk, meet and share ideas constantly,” he wrote.

Well. nothing new here.I wouldn’t got to Dr. Mutua if I needed any advise on my love life, but that’s me.Besides that, such matters do not have one-fit-all- solution. Each response,or solution should be tailor made to fit the problem…Some people would forgive infidelity, especially women, while others would fly off the handle-men…
Sure it makes alot of sense to get along with your ex.But as we know, its easier said than done, especially from the point of view of one who feels wronged.
My advise to all lovers, young and old is to respect your partner as the most important.factor-Be truthful, honest, loving, caring, kind, and funny.Oooh yes, dont be clingy, dont be financially and emotionally insecure. All these traits, and attributes take time to discover. So lovers take time to know each other. After all what’s the hurry? My two cents.
Couple of things, Mutua has…
Couple of things, Mutua has some practice in the divorce thing so you could take advice on the break up front from him. Secondly, I’ve been around the block so I’ll concur on the respect thing but if someone does you wrong, don’t live in misery, life is short, live it. Some person will say put it in the hands of some long dead person from the middle east but if I recall he never married and was known to consort with prostitutes(no judgement, just saying).

Dr. Mutua is lucky to be in an amicable split. So does that make him an expert on splits. My question is are they now divorced or just separated? It seems divorced is such a cringy word that no ones wants to use it. Maxiley has a point philosophically.
Mr. Mutua, it’s only because…
Mr. Mutua, it’s only because you have money. You have no moral authority to advise young people how to handle their marriages. As we speak a lot of women must be rushing to you to become your friend. I am thinking you were unfaithful to your wife. When she found out and couldn’t let it go, you let her go in peace. All you care about is your position, your governorship. If I am to guess, you must have given her millions of shillings to buy her silence. Keep your advice to yourself buddy. Off to the next woman if she’s not already with you…
