Ivy Brenda Rotich who was the first Kenyan to test positive for COVID-19 is contesting for Miss Tourism International.
Brenda is among the 30 finalists eyeing the prestigious title in the pageant whose finals will be held in Malaysia on Sunday, January 17th.
The 27-year-old beauty queen recently took to social media to woo Kenyans to vote for her online ahead of the finals.
“Meet your new Miss Tourism delegate to Malaysia. Join me as I battle it out with Miss Tourism contestants from all over the world for the Final Crown. Help me bring the crown home so the world can discover Kenya’s magical story and the untold wealth of destinations.”

Brenda, an alumnus of Moi Girls High School and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), is a former Miss Tourism Kericho County.
She was the first Kenyan to be diagnosed with COVID-19 having returned to the country from the US via London on March 5th, 2020, and was named Patient Zero.
Brenda took herself to Mbagathi Hospital in Nairobi a few days after she landed in the country after she exhibited symptoms linked to COVID-19.
She was tested and her results returned positive, becoming the first COVID-19 patient in Kenya.
About three weeks later, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced Brenda had recovered from the infection and was discharged from the hospital.
Brenda, an IT engineer previously worked with Safaricom before moving to Incotech in the UK.
