Kenyans sent warm messages to ODM leader Raila Odinga as he turned 76 years on Thursday.
The hashtag #HappyBirthdayRaila trended at number one on Twitter for the better part of Thursday as Kenyans including political leaders wished him long life, good health, and prosperity.
Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga wrote: “Happy Birthday Agwambo – Enigma – Baba! May you live to see the united and prosperous Kenya that you have so desired and sacrificed so much for!”
Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga tweeted: “Happy 76th birthday Baba. This day is special in many ways but most importantly it reminds us of how privileged we’ve been as a country to have you. I pray for good health and endless happiness as you celebrate your birthday.”
ODM director of communication Philip Etale said: “My boss @RailaOdinga, I wish you plenty of joy today and every day of the coming year! You are a fantastic example of wisdom, leadership and foresight. On your birthday, I wish you peace, good health & happiness. You are the best mentor anyone could have asked for.”
Lawyer Donald Kipkorir posted: “May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. Baba, möge Gott immer über dich wachen!”
Mombasa Governor Joho wrote: “As you turn over a new leaf, may the Almighty continue to bless you with courage and wisdom.”
Tycoon Chris Kirubi tweeted: “To many happy returns my dear friend @RailaOdinga! You have exhibited uncommon wisdom, remarkable vision, and exemplary leadership. I wish you peace, good health and happiness.”
Odinga, who served as Kenya’s Prime Minister from 2008 to 2013, was born in Kisumu in 1945. He is a son of Kenya’s first Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.
