Cheeky Kenyan Matatu Driver Speeds Off with Two Traffic Officers before Dumping then in Forest

There was drama in Embu on Saturday after a matatu driver reportedly sped off with two traffic officers before dumping them in a forest.

Embu County head enforcement officer Joseph Ndwiga says the two officers, who were manning a road in Runyenjes area, arrested the driver after they spotted him picking passengers from an undesignated area.

The two traffic cops got into the public service vehicle and ordered the driver to drive to Runyenjes Police Station, where he was set to be booked for the offense.

However, the suspect took off with the two towards a forest in Runyenjes. After driving for several kilometers, the driver stopped and abandoned the vehicle, leaving behind the conductor and the two officers.

Ndwiga says the suspect took off after the two cops asked for reinforcement from other officers attached to Runyenjes Police Station.

The vehicle has been towed to the police station as officers launch hunt for the cheeky driver who is still at large.

That is no being cheeky, that is abduction of officers and a host of other crimes to be preferred against him. Such action of impunity need be punished severely. Had he abided with the orders, he would be booked for a traffic violation; but with this nonsense he is a criminal element.

A police officer has no business getting into an offenders vehicle besides a police car while on duty. It is not safe. They should have breakdowns for towing. I suspect they got into this car to line their pockets and they deserve what they got in return.
