A Nairobi resident has narrated on social media his shocking encounter with muggers in the Central Business District on Tuesday night.
In a tweet, the man identified as Fetty Wafunya says he came face to face with the street robbers along Temple Rd. Wafunya says the muggers stole almost everything including shoes, trousers and shirt, leaving him with underwear and socks only.
He narrates that he had a difficult time convincing a matatu crew that he is of sound mind and the reason he was naked was because he had just been robbed.
“Mahn. In my entire Nairobi life I had never been mugged before. Jana nilijua sijui. They took everything including my trousers and shoes. Ngori sasa ilikuwa kuconvince watu wa matatu ati mimi si mwendawazimu na niko tu na boxer na socks pekee,” says Wafunya.
Wafunya further says that the muggers left him with minor injuries after beating him during the incident. Doctors have since given him a clean bill of health.
“How can they take everything even a trouser?” he wonders.
A few months ago, city security authorities were forced to launch an operation to kick muggers out of Nairobi city centre after several cases of daylight robberies were reported.
The criminals mainly targeted residents exiting shopping malls, Mpesa shops and bank ATMs.
Poverty and desperation is a…
Poverty and desperation is a breeding ground for criminal activities. Our leaders and elites have become thieves themselves. They may not leave you naked after mugging you, but the billions they’ve stolen through corruption would have ameliorated the painful reality among the jobless youths in our metropolis. Majority are criminals born of necessity while for our leaders, it’s corruption for the greedy. They steal not to meet basic needs, our leaders steal to fuel their range rovers, to pay county club membership and stash the lest of the money in multiple bank accounts at home and abroad. Meanwhile, no medicine for the sick, no food for our children and no clean water. Only a revolution will rescue us from our present predicaments. Keep hope alive!

Don’t worry. They (Ruto and Company) will BURN in Hell.
