The management of Bomas of Kenya has deterred Jubilee party leader Uhuru Kenyatta from accessing the venue for Jubilee’s National Delegates Conference (NDC) due to scheduled repairs.
An insider in the Bomas of Kenya confirmed the planned maintenance and repairs of the venue, saying that there’s no plot to curtail Jubilee’s NDC scheduled for May 22. The insider added that the venue will remain closed for 8 weeks to give room for repairs. Other reports indicate that Bomas will reopen in mid-july, 2023. On Wednesday, Mt Kenya leaders allied to Mr Kenyatta insisted that the NDC will happen as planned.
The politicians also told their followers to be wary of fraudsters collecting names for the NDC purporting to be Jubilee officials.
“It has come to our attention that there are nefarious individuals going around purporting to collect names for our NDC. Please note that as a party we are not involved in any collection of names or monies ahead of our NDC,” the statement from Jubilee read.
Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni hinted that they’ve secured venues that will host the NDC on Monday. The former lawmaker bashed government agents for blocking Jubilee’s NDC. This development comes amid leadership wrangles in the party with one faction proclaiming that Nominated MP Sabina Chege succeeded Mr Kenyatta and the other wing maintaining that Uhuru remains the party leader.
Responding to the matter, Kileleshwa MCA has offered to give the party a venue to host their event in case they fail to secure one. The MCA further suggested that Uhuru should utilize ‘men in black’ to protect his party from grabbers.
