Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has challenged President Kenyatta to publicly declare whether he still supports Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
Speaking when he accompanied Ruto to a fundraiser in Nakuru County, Kabogo says there is a need for Kenyatta to restate his stand on his pledge to back the DP in 2022.
“There is no day I have had a conversation with the president and he mentioned to me that he does not support Ruto.”
“However, if he wants to say, I challenge him to make the remarks whilst it is still early. For how long shall he wait?” poses Kabogo.
In a surprise change of heart, Kabogo who has been a fierce critic of Ruto in the past has appeared to throw his weight behind the DP’s State House ambition.
The politician has urged Ruto to not to rely on endorsements but woo Kenyans to back his presidential bid.
“Do not just sit down and assume the promise will give you the seat. Go out there and look for it. Kenyans are the one who will elect the person they want to lead them.”
“The only reason that they will have to rally behind you is by ensuring they are living a decent life,” Kabogo notes.
