Museveni's Message to Kenyans during Uhuru's Inauguration

Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has called on Kenyans to shun politics and focus on other aspects of life.

Speaking during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s swearing in ceremony at Kasarani Stadium on Tuesday, Museveni, who has ruled Uganda since 1986 urged Kenyans to also concentrate on peace, family and development in addition to politics.

“I beseech all Kenyans to consider three things. The first is peace. Secondly, the prosperity of the family unit and development. The fourth is peace, but do not concentrate too much on politics and forget the other three,” said Museveni.

He also congratulated President Uhuru on his re-election and applauded Kenyans for maintaining peace in what he termed as “a successful electioneering period.”

“On behalf of all the people of Uganda, congratulations for the election and for maintaining peace.”

Other presidents and prime ministers present at the fete included Ian Khama (Botswana), Ali Bongo (Gabon), Mohamed Farmajo (Somalia), Salva Kiir (South Sudan), Edgar Lungu (Zambia), Paul Kagame (Rwanda), Ismael Guelleh (Djibouti), Hailemariam Desalegn (Ethiopia), among others.
